Temporal Living Eternal Purpose

We were made for a higher purpose that continues into eternity.

Before God created the sun, moon, and stars, He knew each of us by name and had a purpose for us that far exceeds our short time here on this earth.

We were made to know good, to be good, and to do good.

God alone defines what is good and what is not.

It is not arbitrary, random, or subjective. In fact…

God has written an entire book so that we can learn about Him and about what is good.

God’s first purpose for us is that we believe Him.

God is working to fill the earth with people who believe Him about HIs goodness, His provision, and His purpose.

The bad things that are happening in the world today are a direct result of people not believing God.

It began in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve chose to believe that God is not good, that He was holding back something desirable from them. They decided to choose for themselves what is good and evil, and they disobeyed God.

We have all been choosing for ourselves ever since, and we can see the results with our own eyes.

God has provided for unrighteous people, people who are habitually not good, to be restored to God’s design for them by believing Him about the identity, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is God’s only remedy. There is no other way.

God’s purpose for us is that we know Him.

Jeremiah 9:23-24 – 23Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: 24But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD. John 17:3 – And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (https://biblehub.com/john/17-3.htm)

Eternal life is to know God. He is our ultimate good. He is the creator of everything we enjoy. He is the designer of every God thing. Satisfaction can only be found in knowing Him, believing Him, and obeying Him.

Jesus made a Cliffs notes summation of the Bible for every student. It’s found in Matthew 22:35-38

35Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, 36Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment. 39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

God’s higher purpose for us requires our response to Him.

Galatians 6:7-8  7Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 10As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. God’s Testimony is Greater

1 John 5:9-13 9If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. 10He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19Therefore go and make disciplesd of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
